Yukiko’s Story

“Yukiko, hurry up you’re going to make us late.” Ume yelled from downstairs.

“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Yukiko yelled sliding down the railing. “I’m here.”

“Yeah, but we were supposed to meet Ei, Aneko, Hana, Makoto, and Roka fifteen minutes ago.” She yelled frustrated as they walked out the door.  Yukiko, snow child, is not like the typical girl. She is a laid back, trouble causing tom boy. Completely unlike Ume, whose name means plum blossom by the way. Ume is a major girl.

“Where were you two, you were supposed to be here half an hour ago!” Roka rambled on.

“Don’t blame me; it was Yukiko that made us late.” She yelled back.

“I wouldn’t have if I would’ve known that you were done with your hair!” she ripped the hair tie out of Ume’s hair. “I mean, come on who spends two hours putting their hair in a rubber band?”

“Guys.” Ei said softly. Of course no one heard her.

“Hey!” Ume snatched it back. “Great, all that time gone to waste.”

“Guys.” Ei said softly. Of course no one heard her again.

“Yukiko! Roka! Ume! Stop yelling!” Hana yelled. Hana was the problem solver, more or less stayed quiet until she had to yell.

“Hana, you just yelled.” Roka pointed out. Roka was the smart-elec.

“Oh shut up Roka!” Ume yelled again.

“Why don’t you make me?” Roka used as a worn out come back.

“I’ll make both of you!” Yukiko yelled clenching her fist. “Then you’re going to wish you shut up when I said so!” Yukiko was also the bad ass chick; she didn’t care what people thought of her or where attitude got her.

“Guys.” Ei said softly. Of course no one heard her again.

“GUYS!” Makoto yelled. “Ei is trying to say something.” He looked at Ei, “You may continue.” Now there is a story with Makoto. Makoto is Yukiko’s brother, and if you can’t tell by their looks then you sure can by their attitudes. Makoto has red and black hair; Makoto is like the dream boy out of a teen magazine, until you meet him. Yukiko is a very pretty, with snow white hair, and fragile looking skin or how some boys’ think of her as ‘hot’ which she hates to be called.

“Where is Aneko?” she said quietly looking at her feet.

“Oh, she is a little tied up at the moment.” Makoto said. Although his name means goodness his parents should have named him something meaning trouble.

“Where is she?!” Yukiko said loudly. Yukiko and Aneko are like best friends; even though Aneko is totally different form Yukiko in more than just a few ways. Aneko is hyper around her friends and shy around new people or strangers. Her name literally means ‘big sister’, good thing because she is the oldest of nine.

“Makoto!” Aneko yelled running up with her fist ready to punch him. He stood there and right as she swung he moved behind her and twisted her arm behind her back. “Let go!”

“Why?” he smirked. “You showed me disrespect so now I will show you disrespect and deny you request.” Suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his lower back.

“She said let go!” Yukiko kicked him, hard. “Hope I didn’t hurt you to bad bro.” she smirked too. She knew she did though he hit the ground hard.

“AHH!” he clenched. “Yukiko!” He slowly got up and glared at her. “Nice surprise attack.” He reached in to pat her on the back but she backed off knowing he was going to attempt something. He grunted and then sighed. “Wow that hurts.”

“Oh really? What did you expect; for me to hit you soft as a feather?” Yukiko sassed him. “Hmph, probably, your tiny brain couldn’t conceive that a kick as hard as that would hurt.” She paused. “Much less, I am surprised it can even conceive the concept of pain.”

“Yukiko, I think you’ve burned him enough.” Roka started off again.

“No Roka, she hasn’t.”  Makoto stood up, and punched and punched Yukiko so hard that she flew back two feet, then hit a pole. “But I have.”

“Owe, that really hurt.” She tried to get up, but fell right back down. “You jerk.” She fell unconscious.

“What did you do?!” Aneko screamed! “You knew that you could hurt her, this is like the sixth time!”

“Yeah so,” he shrugged. “That means we know she’ll come out of it.”

I’m too lazy to give a description of now and between when she got up so;            Two Hours Later

Yukiko slowly opened her eyes. “Where am I?” she rubbed her eyes and sat up. “Where is Makoto?” she paused. “What happened?”

“Makoto punched you, really hard.” Aneko said.

“Sorry sis.” Makoto said from a distances not wanting to get hit.

“Yeah, we lost the contest without you; we are just going to have to pay our way into camp this year.” Roka started to ramble again. “Unlike Tomiko we are poor.” Tomiko is a spoiled rich brat, whose name fits her grandly, it means born into wealth, richness. Though she acts happy though sometimes she wishes her parents cared enough.

“You’re rambling again.” Aneko said rolling her eyes and sighing, know he wouldn’t shut up.

“”Makoto, this is your fault.” Yukiko sighed. “You knew you had no chance without me.”

“Excuse me?” Makoto started yelling. “You’re not the queen of our group.” He walked towards her. “In fact you don’t even…” he stopped and walked away.

“Baby!” She said as he walked away. “Just keep walking.”

“I intended to.” He kept walking. “Don’t miss me all too much.”

“I won’t.” she hopped up and walked off the other way.

“Great, they are fighting again.” Roka said.

“Yes, Roka it is apparent they are.” Ume said. “Let’s just stay out of it.”

That Night

Yukiko went home, and sat outside for awhile thinking. ‘How am I going to explain to mom that Makoto ran away again?’ She got up to go in when she was struck with something sharp in her side. “Damn, still hurts.”

“No point in telling mom.” Yukiko turned and saw Makoto. “She ain’t here.”

            “Where is she?” Yukiko asked.

“Probably with dad by now.” He sighed.

“What? Dad’s dead tho-” then she realized. “What did you do?” A single tear rolled down her cheek.

“I didn’t do anything.” He paused. “She was walking home from work when some guy tried to steal her purse. She fought back, and he pulled out a gun.” He walked to her. “Yukiko, we are orphans now.”

She stood there in complete silence.

“Sis,” he started to say, but she cut him off.

            “How did you know?”

“I didn’t until I saw the news. I thought she was just working late, but it showed her picture, then the man’s picture.” He sat down against the wall. “I called the number that the news lady said to, and some guy answered.” He began to tell Yukiko of his conversation.

Makoto’s Phone Call

“Hello?” the voice on the other end said. “This is crime stoppers hotline.”

“Yes, I have some information about the woman who was murdered earlier.” Makoto said in a weak voice.

“Sir, are you okay?” the voice said worriedly.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”Makoto took a deep breath. “The woman was my mother.”

            “What is her name kid?”

“Noriko Kurinoshi.” He stopped. “She had two children; she was 36 years old, and a doctor.”

“And what is your name?” Makoto could hear the sound of a pencil scratching in the background. He hung up, not caring if he knew where his mother was; it was pointless to see her after her death. “Hello?” the voice repeated several times.

The Next Day

“Yukiko, Makoto, answer the door…” Hana stood pounding on the door. Roka walked up and turned the knob.

“Simple.” He smirked and walked in. Yukiko and Makoto were both sleeping in the living room. “Odd, they usually don’t get along so well.”

“Something is wrong.” Aneko said. She always had a talent of sensing when something was wrong. “Look, their mother has not left the emergency numbers on the table.”

“And, there is no smell of freshly made pancakes.” Ei said. “Their mother always made bacon, eggs, and pancakes.”

Makoto woke up to see them all of sitting on the couch, talking. “What in the hell are you doing!?!” he jumped up. “Don’t you knock!?!” he looked at all of them, like he was crazy and mad at the same time.

“We did knock, for like ten minutes.” Hana said. “Then Roka opened the door.”

“Roka!!!” he grabbed him by the collar. “We are not in the mood.” He sat him down and looked at his feet. “Something happened.” He sighed. “I’ll tell you okay?”

Later On That Day

“Dude, that is awful.” Roka said. “What are you going to do for food, bills, and money in general?”

“We don’t know yet.” Yukiko started to wake up finally. “Guys Yukiko is waking up.”

She stretched and yawned. She opened her eyes and the first words out of her mouth were, “What in the hell are all of you doing here!?!”

“No surprise that the first thing she does is cuss.” Ume smirked. “Anyway, Makoto since my parents are rich I am sure that they wouldn’t mind taking you in.” She looked at Yukiko, “Although Yukiko’s attitude has to go.”

“Oh, NO WAY!” Yukiko screamed. “Not in a million years, not in a trillion years!” she took a breath. “NEVER!”

Makoto smacked his forehead, realizing Yukiko was clueless to their condition. “Clearly you don’t understand Yukiko; we could very well die if we don’t go with Ume.”

“Going with her is worse than dying for me.” She sighed. “But, we have no other options.”

Hana looked at her watch. “Wow those trillion years sure went by fast.”

“This is no time for joking.” Aneko said. “Plus she said never.”

“That is something I would expect Roka to say Aneko.” Ume pointed out.

“Oh, so now we are making fun of Roka?” Roka yelled.

“The bad thing is that we have school in an hour.” Hana said.

At School

“Class, tomorrow we will take a field trip to the museum.” Mrs. Fujisuke said. “Here is a permission slip for your parents.”

The Note Said

Dear parents,

Tomorrow we will take a trip to the History Museum. We will explore the wonders of ancient Japan. In order for your child to participate, you must sign this sheet. You also need to send $10.00 per child, for lunch cost, and museum costs.

Thank you,

&nb sp;                         &nb sp;                         &nb sp;                     Karin Fujisuke

At Lunch

“Now how exactly are we supposed to get this signed?” Makoto griped.

“My mom could forge it for you.” Ume said. “She is rather good at that.”

“Roka, could you slow down on your eating, and listen?” Hana said.

“Shoor, shold hon.” He took a big gulp. “Yeah?”

“Help us think, smarty pants.” Ume smirked.

“Guys, I have a suggestion.” Aneko said. “What if we just all tell the teacher what happened?”

“Do you want us to be orphans?” Makoto yelled.

“She was only trying to help.” Ei said looking up. “But it was dumb.” Everyone turned and looked at Ei shocked. “What.”

“Did you just call me dumb?!?!” Aneko clenched her fist.

“No, I was just saying it was a stupid idea.” Ei looked down. “My idea is better.”

“Oh yeah?” Aneko sat with a thud. “What is it?!”

“Well, I thought that they don’t get it signed.” She was cut off by Aneko.

“And my idea was stupid?” she yelled, and everyone in the cafeteria looked at her.

“I was not done!” Ei yelled back, causing an even bigger commotion. Everyone looked in shock. “If they just bring the money and forget the paper then she’ll call the number that Makoto gives her.”

            “Why Makoto?” Hana asked.

“Because she doesn’t like Yukiko as much.” She looked at Yukiko. “And he will give her Yukiko’s number, while Yukiko is not around.”

“Okay, but I don’t get it still.” Aneko Said. “How will that help?”

“Yukiko will answer, and pretend to be her mother.”  She stopped to think about what would happen next. “That is, if she can imitate her mother good enough.”

“Yeah, Yukiko sounds just like mom did on the phone.” Makoto said.

“Good, then we can use Aneko’s idea or mine.” Ei smirked.

“GUYS! GUYS!” Anami ran up. “Have you heard the news?!”

“No what?” Yukiko asked. “And where is Yuki?” she looked surprised. “You never go anywhere without him.”

“Yes I do, just because he is my twin doesn’t mean we always have to be together.” She snarled. “We can’t go to the restroom together. I’m a girl, remember!?” she stopped and changed the subject. “Anyways, the news, some kid from our school, their mom got killed.” She saw the sudden emotion in Yukiko’s and Makoto’s eyes. “Oh my goodness, it was your mom wasn’t it?”

“Yeah,” they both said at the same time. “How did you know, about the death?”

“It’s all over the news, and Yuki witnessed the murder.”She stopped. “He is at the police station answering questions right now.”

Okay, before I go any further, I want to tell you about Anami and Yuki. Anami and Yuki are twins. Anami is a girl, and Yuki is a boy. Anami is a hyper fun loving tomboy, and girly girl. Her attitude depends on the seriousness of the situation. She is nice, and funny. Yuki is totally opposite. He is serious, calm, and quiet. He loves to draw, which is something he is excellent at. He is rarely exciting and fun; he usually focuses on the future. Even though they are two different people they are barely apart. Oh, before I forget, they each have dark brown hair, Anami’s is long and smooth, and Yuki’s is shaggy and greasy.

The Next Day

“Students please give me your permission slips and then get o the bus.” Mrs. Fujisuke collected the admit slips. “Makoto, where is yours?”

“Oh, I must have left it at home. Here is my mom’s number.” He faintly nodded to Yukiko. “She should answer.”

Mrs. Fujisuke dialed the number and Yukiko answered. “Hello?”

“Yes, do Yukiko and Makoto have permission for the trip?”

“Yes, I signed the sheet, did Makoto forget it?” Yukiko said trying not to burst into laughter.

“Okay thank you, I’m sorry to disturb you.” She nodded to Makoto, and he got on the bus. “Bye.”

“Bye.” Yukiko jumped up from behind the bush and ran to the bus. “Sorry I’m late Mrs. Fujisuke.”

“It’s quite alright.” She sighed. “Get on the bus. And don’t do it again.”

“Yukiko, you can sit next to me.” Anami said waving to Yukiko from the back. “Yuki is already sitting next to Roka.” Yukiko went to the back and plopped next to Anami. “So how did you get permission?” she pulled out her iPod. “Because, well your mom is gone and your dad is too.”

“Simple, we faked it.” She started. “I pretended to be my mom and         Mrs. Fujisuke fell for it.”

“Oh, interesting.” She hit play. “Now, Yukiko I am blocking you out.” She began to hum the tune.

“Whatever.” Yukiko sighed. “I don’t care.” She began to thump Roka in the back of the head.

“Do you mind.” He viciously whispered. “I’m trying to talk.”

“You’re not trying your succeeding.” She thumped him again. “You never shut up.”

“Yukiko, keep your hands to yourself!” Mrs. Fujisuke yelled, causing everyone to look at Yukiko.

“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes. “But Roka started it.”

“I was watching.” She sighed. “You’re lying.”

“Okay.” She turned away. “Ume why did you sit back there?”

“Because.” She pointed to Makoto, “Your brother is so hot.”

“I can hear you.” Makoto said looking up from his PSP. “And thanks Ume.”

“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes and pretended not to care, but you could see her cheeks fill with red.

At the Museum

“Hello students.” The tour guide said. “I am Fuji Takanoshi.” He shot a big grin. “And we will see many ancient wonders of Japan in its early stages.”

“Oh great a weird-o.” Yukiko said under her breath, “time to sneak out of here.” She got Roka, Ume, Makoto, Anami, Yuki, Ei, and Aneko. “We are going to go do exploring of our own.”

“Of course she would attempt a stupid demeanor.” Roka said. “It’s most certainly, a very high possibility that you will be caught.”

            “What?” everyone questioned. “Speak normally…”

“You will get caught, because such high number of us is gone.” He said.

“Taken care of already.” She pointed to the group. “Holograms took our place.”

“Interesting, I had no idea you could figure such complicated mechanics.” Roka said.

“I’m not stupid, I pay attention in class.” She smirked. “How else would I pass?”

“Oh really, since when?” Roka smirked with confidence, “Last I check, I did all your homework.”

“Sometimes!” she crossed her arms. “Not every assignment. “Only the hard and boring ones.”

“That amounts to each one so far,” he stopped, “since the fourth grade.”

“No, there was that one, in seventh grade.” She said. “Where we had to make that cake, or whatever.”

“You just bought it at the store. And got an ‘F’ on that.” He said. “Because you left it in the box.”

“So, I did that on my own.” She said turning away. “Now get off the topic.”

            “Whatever.” Roka said.

Yukiko’s Dream That Night

She ran as fast as she could, she didn’t know what it was, but it was chasing her. She stumbled, and fell. She quickly jumped to her feet, it was gaining on her. “What are you?”

“I’m you…” it disappeared. “In two days, you turn sixteen, I will reveal myself.”

“What, where did you go.” She turned her head, in just enough time to see it, her, in front of her. “You look like me, but different.”

“Yes, Yukiko I am you.” The person in front of her is indeed her. She has blood red hair though. Her skin is soft, her voice is soft, and her personality is evil. “I am your hidden powers.” She took a step forward, as Yukiko took a step back. “You, Yukiko Kurinoshi, you are” Yukiko woke up to the sudden sound of a fire alarm.

The House

The room was filled with smoke, she coughed. “Makoto?!” There was no reply. “Makoto.” She felt a hand touch her.

“You brother is already outside.” A man in a large suit lifted her up. “Let’s go.” He picked her up. “Stay with me Yukiko, don’t pass out.” He rushed outside.

“YUKIKO!” Makoto ran up with a sudden sigh
